OUR HISTORY

As one of the oldest insurance agencies in Florida, Lassiter-Ware has always been committed to serving our customers first and providing the highest level of quality, a philosophy that has guided us for almost a century.

The company was founded in 1912 by G.G. Ware and L.M. Johnson in Leesburg, Florida and known as Johnson-Ware until 1943, when the name changed to Lassiter-Ware after the arrival of Paul Lassiter, who joined the firm as a partner of the agency.

Ted Ostrander, Sr. joined the firmed in 1946 and was named president in 1972, but the firm stayed with the name Lassiter-Ware, as it had become associated with service and quality for the growing Leesburg community and the surrounding areas. Through the 70’s, the firm experienced tremendous growth and moved to a bigger office location in 1978. During this timeframe, Ted Ostrander Jr. joined the firm in 1973 as treasurer and became president in 1982. Ted Ostrander Sr. retired from the agency in 1986, leaving a firm that had grown to premiums of $12 million and had opened two office locations.

During the years to come, Lassiter-Ware would continue to grow and expand upon its service package. Once a two-man operation, Lassiter Ware is today offering customers around the globe a full range of services, including risk management, commercial insurance, financial planning, employee benefits, individual and family insurance planning, and non-insurance business support. Lassiter-Ware operates with seven office locations, and has premiums of over $100 million. We attribute our growth to the philosophy that has stayed with us since our inception in 1912 –  we serve you, our customers first.
